From time to time, I like to enjoy a snack of Wheat Thins and Philadelphia Cream Cheese. They make a great pairing but the only hassle is that my cat Mister Tickles gets crazy when he smells the cream cheese. Even after a long soaking, my rice cooker will not fully cook dry pinto beans. I got much better results boiling them on the stove top.

My search for a protractor is over! I looked in Target and Wal*Mart, and they didn't have the kind I remember using as a kid. Theirs are opaque (!) and have this goofy swing-arm thingy. I tried the canned octopus last night. I expected it to be gelatinous and slimey, like spaghetti-tentacles in a snot gravy -- but in fact it was in fleshy (somewhat chewy) chunks. So, last week the ice maker was dispensing crushed ice even when it was set to cubes*. Well, guess what... It makes cubes* again without any intervention on my part!

* The shape of the so-called "cubes" is actually a hemicylinder.

Yesterday I drove back to Indiana so that I can finish selling my stuff and moving out of my apartment. I think the coffee tables and bed are a done deal, but no one has agreed to buy the sofa or foosball table yet.
